A haven of dust, timelessness, fragility and awe. The stacks are a wonderful mix of organisational efficiency and human eccentricity. The library’s history, accessibility and belief’s in the power of learning has created a magical space where data organisation and retrieval, has a human spirit.
Hidden from the general public, the stacks are a palimpsest telling of the layers of acquisition and categorisation. Here is the evidence of years of industrious activity by countess librarians, undertaken with great passion and drive, but always in that quiet, unassuming way so befitting to libraries and librarians.
